Rules of the Competition.
The rules of the competition have been agreed as below and will apply for the 2024 season.
(i) 10 runners irrespective of gender to count in ‘A’ team.
(ii) 6 runners irrespective of gender to count in ‘B’ team.
(iii) 6 runners irrespective of gender to count in Vets team.
(iv) 4 runners to count in Ladies team.
(v) Races to be held in 2024 – 12.
(vi) Best 8 out of 12 races to count for individual prizes.
(vii) If there was a change to the number of races held in subsequent years, then:
In the event of 8 races being held, best 6 out of 8 races to count.
In the event of 9 races being held, best 6 out of 9 races to count.
In the event of 10 races being held, best 7 out of 10 races to count.
In the event of 11 races being held, best 7 out of 11 races to count.
(viii) Team result – worst race to be discarded.
(ix) If any club doesn't have enough runners in each of the 4 team categories then the team receives 'penalty' points for each runner short. i.e. The number of CLGP runners in the category, plus 1 will be added for each runner short.
(x) Vet categories to start at V40 for Men and L35 for Ladies. Each category to cover a 5 year period.
(xi) Entry on the day – no extra charge to CLGP runners. Race organisers should inform other CLGP members clubs if the race is getting close to being fully subscribed.
It is the responsibility of the individual runners to inform the race organiser of their CLGP status
(xii) Runners cannot compete for more than one club in the Grand Prix in the same season. Results will only count for the first declared club.
Runners must be a member of a CLGP club; unaffiliated runners do not count for any CLGP points and cannot retrospectively be assigned points unless demonstrated to be a CLGP club member at the time of the race.
Runners can be first or second claim for a CLGP club (by EA registration), but an athlete's 'first' represented CLGP club is that which is entered as at their first CLGP appearance each season.
(xiii) Runners will retain the Age Category in which they complete their own first race in the competition throughout its duration.
(xiv) Clubs must stipulate that all competing athletes wear official club vests or colours, save for exceptional circumstances.
(xv) Clubs hosting races should discourage runners from wearing earphones during the course of the race.
(xvi) Any query, dispute or appeal with regards to the validity of results must be forwarded directly to the Chairman, who together with the Secretary, Treasurer and Race Results-Co-ordinator, will consider the matter in question and issue a final irrevocable decision to the party (parties) involved.
(xvii) Minimum age of competing runners is set at 14 years subject to the age limit specified in the individual race licences.
Host clubs are required to e-mail the results of their races to the results co-ordinator as soon as possible after the race.
Results will be circulated and published on the CLGP web-site as soon as possible after the race.
Clubs are encouraged to publish up-dated results to their members.
